Greg Balfany's La Crosse Jazz Quartet - Thursday Night Members Social

Dr. Greg Balfany is Professor of Clarinet and Saxophone and Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He is active as a performer and music educator, giving workshops, clinics, and guest performances throught the Tri-state area.  His quartet, The La Crosse Jazz quartet, has been a mainstay of the regional jazz scene for the past two decades appearing regularly at local festivities and clubs.

Dr. Balfany has performed extensively as a clarinet and saxophone soloist in both classical and jazz contests.  He has performed with Randy Brecker, Bob Minzer, Red Holloway, Al Grey, Bob Hope, Frank Wess, Red Skelton, Marv Stamm, Kurt Elling, Clark Terry, Ed Shaughnessy, and many others.

Greg directs and performs with the Great River Big Band, Western Wisconsin's Jazz Repertory Orchestra.  The band has recorded three CD's and been featured on Chuck Cecil's nataionally syndicated radio program "The Swinging Years".  The band has also been featured on Minnesota and Wisconsin Public  Radio.  Greg may also be heard on the La Crosse Jazz Quintets recent CD "Getting to It".

Studebaker 7 - Friday Night After Banquet Dance

Originally formed in 1973 for a 50's style fraternity party, Studebaker 7 went on to perform for 14 years thereafter.  The highlight for the band was performing for 3 consecutive years at Milwaukee Summerfest.  Studebaker 7 recorded two records in teh 1970's with "One Fine Day" reading Number 2 on the Midwest Top 40 Pop chart.  The band broke up in 1987.  After a 15 year hiatus the band performed in 2002 with 6 original members.  Since reuniting, Studebaker 7 has been the opening act for Dr. Hook and the Medicince Show and 1964-The Tribute, The Number 1 Beatles Tribute Show in the World.  Studebaker 7 is entertaining to watch and fun to sing along with.  See more at www.studebaker7.com !
