Making It Home in the Kickapoo Valley Cultural Tour for K-12 Teachers.
August 2-6, 2010
The Kickapoo Valley Reserve in southwestern Wisconsin is pleased to announce our 2010 Making It Home in the Kickapoo Valley Cultural Tour for K-12 Teachers.
In 2009 the Kickapoo Valley Reserve collaborated with Wisconsin Teachers of Local Culture to offer a tour for teachers in the Kickapoo Valley. The 2010 "Making it Home" Tour will be very similar and will again explore the beautifully and culturally rich area of rural southwestern Wisconsin, examining land and water issues and seeking a deeper awareness of how people connect with the land. The tour is specifically designed for the needs of K-12 teachers who wish to incorporate local culture into their classrooms. Tour faculty and guest speakers include scholars, artists, musicians and local residents.

Twenty seats are available for K-12 teachers on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost for the tour is $185 per person. This includes tour transportation (bus and canoe), meals and lodging. Graduate credit from UW-LaCrosse is available for $90/credit.
This tour is supported in part by the Wisconsin Humanities Council, Organic Valley Family of Farms and by the Friends of the Kickapoo Valley Reserve.
