Conference Updates

The 2012 WSST conference will be held in Madison on March 8-10 at the Monona Terrace Convention Center.  Watch the WSST website for updates as the planning moves forward.  Mark your calendar and start taking whatever steps are needed to make your attendance possible .  If you have been thinking about making a presentation  start working on your plans now as well!

Did You Know?

Our organization was the beneficiary of a generous contribution from the estate of one of our founders, Dr. Milton Pella.  The WSST foundation is now able to support more grant requests

from our members!  Check out the Foundation section on the WSST website and be watching for more information in the first print newsletter which will be published  later in September.  This is just another opportunity to get support for a project you’ve been wanting to do but  which you have not had the resources.

Your WSST Funds in Action

Communications like these monthly electronic notices , the website and the four print newsletter are all supported by society funds which come from you the members .

Spotlight on Professional Development

A great opportunity for professional development exists right within our very own organization! Nominations are now open for the positions of District 5 (CESA 2 and 5) , District 6 (CESA 6)  and District 7 (CESAS 1)Directors, and President Elect. Please consider the impact you or a colleague could have on science teaching in Wisconsin. Being a board member has been one of the most rewarding activities in which I have participated throughout my career.

The American Museum of Natural History is offering online courses for science teachers. Visit learn.amnh.org  for information on to register for courses being offered later this fall.

A CD of resources is included with each course.
