This online course will be a historical overview of the people and technology involved in the first half century of space exploration. The course will begin with Sputnik 1, Earth's first artificial satellite, and continue on through construction of the International Space Station (ISS), our first international long term habitat in orbit. There will be a special emphasis on the Apollo program and the content of the book "Man on the Moon" written by co-instructor Andrew Chaikin.
