Outdoor Learning: A Conversation with Environmental Education Professionals

From WAEE " Wisconsin Association for Environmental Education"

We are working in partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) to provide support for outdoor learning and we invite you to join us for two conversations to help identify needs for this upcoming school year.

Time is of the essence and we will convene our first conversation on Friday, August 14, from 1-3 via Zoom. Outcomes for the conversation include:

  1. Identify needs for both formal and non-formal educators,

  2. Understand national initiatives and identify ways that WAEE, DPI, and other partners can address these needs on a statewide level; and

  3. Connect with others in regional breakouts to identify local opportunities and needs.

The second conversation will be on Thursday, August 20, from 1:30 - 3:30. Formal educators will be invited to this second meeting. The outcomes for this include:

  1. Understand the benefits and importance of EE at this time,

  2. Provide input for "Moving Educational Forward Outdoors" guidance from DPI; and

  3. Collaborate in regional breakouts to share ideas and identify ways to create local action plans for outdoor learning (including school yards/location, content, activities and local EE support opportunities where applicable).

We value your voice, expertise, and experience, and hope you can join us for these two important conversations so we can support GREEN education this year, not just SCREEN education.
