Free Student and Green Jobs Curriculum

LEAF is excited to announce a free student and green jobs curriculum opportunity for an Urban Forestry Career panel in conjunction with the PLT Green Jobs: Exploring Forest Careers Curriculum.  We have developed the offering with the help of Neilsville Ag Educator Amy Gerhardt and our many partners with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Urban Forestry Team, Wisconsin Urban Wood, and UWSP College of Natural Resources Urban and Community Forestry Program.

Description: Ever wonder what urban forestry is or different careers you might pursue within this field? Urban forestry is a diverse and emerging career pathway that works in the forests outside your door. From scientists and city planners to artisan furniture makers and business people, join us as we host an Urban Forestry Career Panel to learn more about the myriad of careers in this field and how you might embark on an urban forestry journey.

Educators who register will get free access to the PLT Green Jobs: Exploring Forest Careers Curriculum e-book and a set of student quiz codes after the live session.

Hear from professionals at UWSP College of Natural Resources, Wisconsin Urban Wood, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and more. Be part of this cutting-edge profession and learn from our guests on how they got started in this world, cool projects they do, and pointers for navigating urban forestry as a career path. Bring your questions for a live presentation and Q and A.

  • Kim Sebastian, WDNR Urban Forestry team (ecological, social, health benefits of living wood)

  • Dr. Richard Hauer, UWSP Urban Forestry (scientist/UWSP urban forestry program rep)

  • Dwayne Sperber, Wudeward Urban Forest Products (producer and supplier of urban lumber and architectural woodwork)

  • Paul Morrison, The Wood Cycle of Wisconsin (produces artisan furniture out of urban wood)

  • John Kemppainen, City of Stoughton Forestry Division (city forester who runs an urban wood program).

Thursday November 12 from 2:30-3:15 PM

Can’t make it at that date and time? Please still register and we can follow up with how to access the recording and PLT Green Jobs curriculum e-book for future use.

Many thanks and hope to "see" you there!
