We’re inviting you to fill out the survey below if you’re interested in joining either the LEAP or Science Teacher Prep and Development community. We’d love to learn more about you and how you might like to connect, collaborate, and learn with other science educators.

LEAP is a community for science teachers. We support each other in crafting productive opportunities for our students to engage in sensemaking. Whether that be sharing neat phenomena, trying out tools for interpreting student learning, or strategizing ways to get learners talking.

Science Teacher Prep and Dev is a community for science teachers and science teacher preparation faculty. Here, we talk mainly about our science teacher preparation programs - ensuring that we are preparing future science teachers with current best practices for teaching and a community that will support them as they start their career.

There is no formal induction to either community. Simply join in for one of our sessions. If you’re unable to make the meeting times listed, but want to connect with other teachers, use the survey linked to ask about similar opportunities. 😊 Anyone interested in science teaching and learning is welcome!!

Community of Practice Sessions:

Each community holds sessions online on the 1st Monday of the month, lasts for about an hour, and is accessible to teachers at any stage of their career. Dates for these sessions are provided here:

            September 7th**        December 4th       March 1st

October 5th           Happy New Year!      April 5th

LEAP meets from 6pm-7pm (Central Time)

STPDC meets from 4pm-5pm (Central Time)

** On September 7th each community will have a planning session. Folks will suggest topics for discussion and volunteer to be a "feature teacher". Presenting is not required; however, we would love for those comfortable to share. Feel free to invite other science teachers to the conversations! Hope you're having a terrific Tuesday!
