Upward Bound
Upward Bound is a federally funded grant program that works with First Generation and Low-Income High School students.
One aspect of our grant is to host a summer program for our students. This summer program includes many aspects, including a trip to an outdoor leadership camp, a cultural trip to Boston, and classes that will count for high school credits for our participants. We are currently looking for a science teacher for our summer program.
Expectations would be as follows:
Teach 3 total sessions of 3 courses. We have a cohort of rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors, so we are looking to have one class geared toward each grade level. Course specifics can be discussed with the instructor!
Class sessions are typically 75 minutes long from 8am-12:15pm (but we are fine tuning our schedule a bit)
Classes would be in person from June 17-21 and June 28-July 3rd (only weekdays)
Classes would be online from July 5-July 19th . These classes would be about an hour each.
Expected compensation is $4,000
Requirements
Certification to teach 9-12th grade science
Experience working with students from First Gen and Low Income backgrounds
Flexibility and patience as our team is in our first year of planning our summer program!
If folks have questions, they can reach out to me directly at stewartc@uwgb.edu and I would be happy to set up a meeting!
