WSST Searching for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

The Wisconsin Society of Science Teachers (WSST) is searching for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) from its membership. The responsibilities of the CFO include, but are not limited to:
Have custody of the operating budget and other WSST accounts.
Prepare a financial statement for each meeting of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors or at the request of the President.
Be responsible for proper accounting procedures and for the payment of funds in accordance with the approved budget.
Communicate with financial officers of the financial institutions with which WSST does business.
Prepare monthly financial statements to be reviewed by the Finance Committee.
Prepare an annual budget at the direction of, and subject to approval of, the Board of Directors.
Attend meetings of the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors as directed by the President.
Work under the supervision of the President; and within the budgetary limits established by the Board of Directors.
Work with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) as an administrative officer of WSST.
Serve as an ex-officio member of the Executive Committee.
Execute contracts and agreements on behalf of WSST, subject to the directions of the Board of Directors or Executive Committee.
Serve on the annual conference committee and oversee finances for the conference.
Attend the annual WSST Conference, Wednesday to Saturday (accommodations and registration covered by WSST). Be available near the Registration area to troubleshoot issues that arise during the conference.
Prepare the conference registration form in Wild Apricot.
Prepare weekly registration and finance reports for the conference beginning approximately 3 months before for the conference that are shared with the conference co-chairs and the Executive Committee.
Act as Chair for the Finance Committee.
File financial reports (such as annual tax submissions-1099s and 990 form) on behalf of the organization.
Coordinate with COO for roles with and management of WSST programs like WINGS is expected.
Perform above duties and all others as delineated in the CFO's Handbook or specified by the Board of Directors.
Applicants should be a current active member who will uphold the vision and mission of WSST, is tech savvy, possess time management, organization, cooperation, and communicative skills; and wants to help advance science education in Wisconsin. A 6 month probationary period at $2,000 stipend with review. If renewed, annual stipend of $4,000 is subject to review with annual performance reviews and stipend amount reviews, payable in two installments for fulfilling their responsibilities to the organization. Additional benefits include lodging at the annual Wisconsin conference and the opportunity to attend biannually to the national NSTA conference with funding provided by WSST .
There will also be a one-year onboarding process where you will work alongside the current CFO, Kevin Niemi, in order to learn the position.
